SUNDAY 13thJULY ETHIOPIA This is our first month back in Ethiopia after our recent short furlough. The all purpose building for church and school is going up as funds are available. The need now is walls and roof. We will be thankful for any help. Funds can be marked “Rocks and Blocks”. Our second Sunday back was marked with a tragedy here in the Fitche area. Twenty minutes out of Fitche a local minivan hit a larger bus head-on. Fourteen died, including the wife of one of the teachers at the school where Karon teaches English. It seems the driver let the ticket taker drive, with no license or experience. On our third Sunday two Muslim men were preparing explosives to “use” at the Ethiopian soccer stadium where Ethiopia and Nigeria were to play in the Africa playoffs. They and their rented house “went up” when the wires got crossed. Our church growth has been static for quite some time. One reason is that there is a strong culture of ancient Baal worship mixed into the religious life here. If we were willing to compromise our doctrine we would have many charismatics filling our seats. We received a good letter from Papua New Guinea that the churches we started years ago are starting churches. This is the Lord’s doing. This month marks the beginning of our 48th year as missionaries. We praise the Lord for His care over us and thank you for your prayers and support which makes it possible for us to be here. please pray for Frank & Karon Auterson as they labour for the Lord.
