SUPARCO has taken an initiative in the form of Pakistan National Student Satellite Program (PNSSP) to promote satellite technology and knowledge of its applications in the educational institutes of Pakistan. PNSSP will consist of a series of satellites which will be designed and developed by collaborative efforts of SUPARCO and universities. In this regard, Pakistan Space Agency SUPARCO and University of Karachi have signed an MOU. Accordingly, the areas of cooperation for the purpose of PNSS-1 project shall include research and development in the satellite technology domain through demonstration of indigenous satellite design and development. SUPARCO and UOK will cooperate and collaborate for the design and development of the following two (02) PNSS-1 units: a. Receiver (GSRXU: Ground Segment Receiving Unit) [ ISPA will work on this project] b. On-Board Computer (OBC). [Department of Computer Science) Prof. Dr. M Jawed Iqbal, Director ISPA and Mr. Badar Sami, in-charge Department of Computer have played a pivotal role in preparation of projects and MoU.
