SUSPENSION OF CLASSES AT NCR The Department of Education (DepEd) has suspended afternoon classes in preschool to highschool in the National Capital Region Monday, amid heavy rains brought by tropical storm Pedring. Upon the recommendation of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services (Pagasa), DepEd has announced the cancellation of classes, according to NCR Regional Director Elena Ruiz. In its Twitter account, DepEd said Pagasa predicts 15mm of rainfall on Monday afternoon. "There is no announcement of class suspension from other regions yet "except for those under typhoon signals," DepEd added. Pagasa said that as of 8 am Monday,Pedring was estimated at 370 km East Southeast of Casiguran Aurora. As of 5:00 pm Sunday, Pagasa has placed Storm Signal No. 2 over Catanduanes; while areas such as Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Albay, Burias Island, Sorsogon, Quezon, Polillo Island, Aurora are under under Storm Signal No. 1. Colleges and Universities may meanwhile refer to the Commission on Higher Education or their respective school officials regarding the suspension of classes.
