SWEET HOME ALABAMA (Enjoy the poem with pictures by clicking on the link below) Nestled in the middle of the Southeast states Is a place full of rich history Though some would say it’s a backwards place I’m proud to be from the Heart of Dixie There’s turquoise waters and sugar white sands Each resident is proud to boast From Gulf Shores to Dauphin Island Serenity’s found upon the Gulf Coast You can relax on a pristine beach Til the bonfire blazes at night Splash in the waves to wet your feet Stroll with your lover in the moonlight There’s plenty of oysters, shrimp and crawfish An abundant supply to God we owe Roasted corn; many a dish To go with that steaming bowl of gumbo When Autumn brings the colors of Fall The place to go would be up north Or in the Spring you’ll have a ball Wild Azaleas and Laurel the mountains bring forth You can look out from the Lookout Adventure is yours, alone, to create Camp, hike, ride on a bike Privacy found in many a place Botanical gardens, Scenic River Trails Something to do for one and all Spelunk through a cave or find a trail Hike up to see Desoto Falls Huntsville is home to exploration NASA’s Space and Rocket Center Experience G-Force Acceleration A place where Space is still popular From all over the country, every year They flock to our famous fields of green If the game of Golf were royalty The Robert Trent Jones Trail would be the king Stand on the cliffs of the Tennessee River Tee off over a bottomless ravine Stand on the fairway by 80 foot falls To take your aim at twin evergreens Original and completely unrivaled 468 holes across 11 sites Grab your clubs; come and be challenged From the beach to mountain heights Every place here in Alabama Is steeped within such history So many tribes of Native Americans Like Choctaw, Chickasaw and Cherokee The birthplace of Ms. Helen Keller A turning point place in civil rights The fascinating Mr. Booker T.
