Said Good-bye this morning to my old pal Spike. Records show he was born August 6, 1995. He adopted me at the local animal shelter in October that same year. He brought me great comfort for 19 years, snuggling and purring while I cried over the loss of many family and friends through the years. He made me laugh. His first Christmas I was given a beautiful ceiling tall real tree. He labored diligently while I was at work to make certain every ornament was off the tree by the time I returned home. When I adopted Candy, he became best pals with her... he was a two timing man, but we loved his purr-sonality and forgave him. 7 years ago I brought in 4 orphaned kittens who were just a week old. He stood by while I bottle fed them all. He did diaper less duty just as well as any mother or daddy would do. And dear little Whitney, the only female of the orphans used him as a surrogate mother. He allowed her to latch on and nurse him from the beginning clear up through last week. Yes, you read that correctly. HE would allow her to NURSE! Spike was a handsome Lilac Point Siamese cat. I am going to miss him. RIP, SPIKE. Youve earned your rest.
