Salam Alaikum, Today we commemorate the 40th of the martyrdom of the Master of Martyrs, Imam Hussain (as). We remember the struggles of his sister Bibi Zainab (as) and the women and children of his camp. The calamities of Karbala did not end on the 10th of Muharram, nor did they end with the 40th day after this; they continued to ring through the generations, pushing millions to be honoured with visiting the Shrine of Aba Abd-Allah (as) today. The enormity of the event encompassed every aspect of our lives: politics, economics, society and morals. Imam Hussain (as) and Zainab Al-Kubra (as) stood together as anchors in rooting their grandfathers religion into this earths core. Their actions are the very reason we pray, fast and say our tashahud. This anchor that guarantees Islams prevail exists to today and is manifested completely in our awaited Imam, Imam Al-Mahdi (as). People work today to attempt to uproot Islam, yet it is these very people that will be weeded out. Inshallah we can work in this life to ensure we stand behind in the Imam on the day of judgement, and are granted heaven by the intermission of Rasool Allah (saww) and his progeny (as) and the mercy of Allah (sw). Please remember to pray for the hastened return of our savior.
