Salvation in Christ Posted on Wednesday, 5 June, 2013 by Archbishopric of Good Hope Father Zacharias and participants The Way is an introductory course on the Orthodox Christian faith that we ran at the Archbishopric in Cape Town between August 2011 and March 2012. It was developed by the Institute for Orthodox Christian Studies in Cambridge, England and has been run in various places around the world. Each evening session involved sharing a meal together, watching a video lecture, responding in small groups and finally having a chance to ask questions about our faith. The course is being repeated this year and the fifth session held on Friday night 31 May at the Archbishopric. The theme was “Salvation in Christ” and the presentation was given by Metropolitan Kallistos (Ware) of Diokleia who, as Father Zacharias said in his introductory words, has perhaps done more than anyone else to introduce Orthodoxy to the western world. Metropolitan Kallistos began by recounting a rather typical story of being asked “Are you saved?” by a man on a train. How is one to answer such a question? And how are we to understand Christian salvation? Information about the course and a summary of this talk, can be viewed by clicking on the link THE WAY on the activities page.
