Vamana Jayanti 2013 on 16th September Vamana Jayanti Festival 2013 celebrates the birth anniversary of the 5th avatar or Lord Vishnu. Mahavishnu incarnated as Lord Vamana during Treta Yuga. The festival is observed on the Sukla Dwadashi or 12th day of the waxing phase of moon in the Bhadrapada month. In 2013, Vamana Jayanti is on 16th September 2013, Monday. Unlike other avatars of Vishnu, the incarnation of Vamana was not meant to kill any demons. The reason behind Vamana avatar of Vishnu is to give moksha to King Mahabali. The avatar is also meant to help Devas to regain their lost power to King Bali. Vamana Jayanti Festival Famous Temples of Vamana Thrikkakara Vamana Moorthy Temple in Kochi, Ulagalantha Perumal Temple in Kanchipuram, and Mithranandapuram Vamana Temple in Thrissur are some of the most famous temples dedicated to Lord Vamana. Special poojas are organized in Vishnu Temples as part of Vamana Jayanti Festival. Vamana Jayanti coincides with the Tiruonam Festival in Kerala. The next year, Vamana Jayanti date in 2014 is on 6th September 2014, Saturday.
