Sandy & I playing our Native American Style flutes at the wedding - TopicsExpress

Sandy & I playing our Native American Style flutes at the wedding last Saturday. Ellen Bristol, said she wanted to hear more about it. Here goes: We were hired by the bride and groom to photograph their wedding, we have known them for a while and they asked us to play our flutes during the ceremony. They wanted us to play What a Wonderful World Well that is one of my favorites, no problem. So Sandy had to learn it and I came up with an arrangement for us. They told us it would be during the communion and it is an outside wedding. We were not sure if we would be able to use our backing track so we did practice both with the track and without. So at the wedding the DJ is not set up in a location for us to use the backing track. I am photographing some before hand photos outside of the groom and guest, then inside of the bride, then back outside, changing settings and back and forth. The wedding starts, I photograph the bride coming in, the exchange of vows, the ring. Then I hand off the camera to our friend Lisa Coker, to take a couple of photos, then hurry over to meet Sandy up front to play. I thought to myself..... this is going to make me start out a little nervous on the flute, ahh. I start..... then the pastor starts talking about the communion (I didnt know he was going to talk as we played) then Sandy plays, then we play together.........all goes great, then the pastor says .....Let us pray I am like.... we arent finished, ummm, how am I going to get Sandy to stop at the same place as me and it sound good, I got Sandys attention, we came to a spot that slows down, good place to stop.....but..... if Sandy keeps going, the song winds back up again and on a high note......... we hold the note and stop at the same time..... shoooo!! Got it!! Yeah!!! then I run back get the camera....... and its back to work!!
