SavingGanesh.org has released a second video trailer The Elephants of Sri Lanka. This narrated footage was collected over the past year while being embedded with the Rangers and Veterinarians of the Department of Wildlife. The causes and extent of elephant fatality are much changed since the end of the civil war 4 years ago. Economic progress has required massive elephant herding operations and the elephants are fighting back....but losing. The elephants and Buddhist population have existed in near harmony for eons - but now the elephants have learned to fear humans, and with little provocation will attack. They are unpredictable and the farmers are anxious. The farmers sleep poorly during the growing season while listening for marauding elephants. The stress pushes most farmers to relocate their families into tree houses and out of harms way.
