Saying Goodbye. Today we said farewell to one of the most amazing dogs I have had the privilege to know. She has been in our care for three years. At thirteen years, with multiple physical problems, it was time. This much Deborah and I know. She is no longer in pain, suffering from all the ailments that hounded her these last four or five years. Of this I am certain: There is an Abigail sized empty hole in this wicked old world, and in my heart. The house is way to quiet without her presence, panting, scratching, wanting attention. This is a tough one....Grief is a profound, strange beast. God and I are going to have a head-to-head talk if she and the rest of the pack are not there to greet me when I pass into Glory.
