Scholar: Ibn Qayyim Al Jawziyyah Ibn Qayyim Al Jawziyyah was born near Damascus, Syria. From an early age he set about acquiring knowledge of the Islamic sciences from the scholars of his time. The most notable of his teachers was Ibn Taymiyyah who he accompanied and studied under for sixteen years. He was known to devote long hours to his nightly prayers, was in a constant state of remembrance of Allah and was known for his extended prostrations.
