Scott Copeland is getting closer to the finish line on his TF - TopicsExpress

Scott Copeland is getting closer to the finish line on his TF Contender. After getting some serious bench time in last weekend, heres what he has to say: Progress continues on the Contender cowling. Once the chin piece was tacked to the firewall, the spinner backplate was mounted on the engine and the plywood cowl ring mounted to the backplate with 3/32 scrap balsa spacers. The cheek pieces must be fitted next. An angle measurement was taken between the firewall and chin block and this angle was transferred to 1/2 balsa sheet. After this angle was cut, a measurement was taken from the firewall to the ply cowl ring to establish the proper size of the cheek block. Due to the carb/needle valve arrangement on my engine, it was necessary to sand a groove in the cheek blank to accommodate the needle. This was easily done with a Dremel tool and sanding cylinder. The fit is pretty decent. One more cheek to go and then the carving starts!
