Scout couldnt find her homework the other night and she was quite upset. I turned the timer on for 5 minutes and helped her look. When it went off I told her I was done looking and that she could keep looking or not, her grade...her choice. She did not find it so she asked for another copy the next day at school. She brought it home and immediately sat down, completed it, asked me to check it, and put it back in her backpack to turn in to her teacher. She is in first grade. My phylosophy is that if the child can do it, they should do it. And, if they cant, teach them so they can. The result? I am almost a 100% hands off mom for the older two. If Mc left for college tomorrow, I know she can handle it. Peace of mind for me and her.
