Scrolling through Facebook this morning and I see only 2 things. ...The ice bucket challenge and anti police pictures. Normally I just scroll past those without much thought but today its really bothering me. I just watched Lance get dressed for work, its a long ritual that most people will never see. I cant say I like watching it because its a big reality check that he needs all this stuff on him just to help him make it through his work day alive. Police are law enforcement officers, that is their job. They dont make the laws, they are paid to enforce them. Its pretty simple to stay on their good side, just obey the laws. What most people forget is that police officers are people, they have families and we want them to come home every day. Unlike other professions we have in the back of our minds during their shift that every time our phone rings it could be that call. We never end a phone conversation without an I love you because we know all to well that the next stop they make could be their last. He made me a promise that he will be home at the end of his shift and thats a promise I will hold him too so if someone tries to take his gun, he better shoot. So please remember when youre posting anti police pictures that one day you might be the one in trouble and calling for help and the only person that will help is that police officer. Now go back to dumping ice on your heads please.
