Se programmet som skal gjennomføres i Normandie: Fresville – France, December 15th, 2013 Concerns: Daks over Normandy Dear DC-3/C-47/Li-2 owners & operators Recently you have been contacted by one of us or by a third party to take part in our 70th D-day anniversary “Dakotas over Normandy” event and you are among those from whom we received the expression of intent to take part. After several months of planning and deliberating at various levels with the authorities, we have now been given the go-ahead as an integral part of all festivities and we can now commence working out the fundamentals of our organization and our event with you. Let us start with a summary of the current state of affairs; 1. Overall planning Planning has been agreed upon with the following local parties: DGAC (Direction Générale de l’Aviation Civile), Aéroport Cherbourg Maupertus (SNC Lavallin), Conseil Général de la Manche, Ville de Carentan, Commune de Sainte Mère Eglise, Commune de Sainte Marie du Mont, Musée de Utah Beach, Office du Tourisme de Sainte Mère Eglise, Comité des fêtes de Gonneville (Maupertus), Aerobase Ecausseville, Lee Flying Association and Daedalus/Lee-on-Solent airfield. 2. Status As previously stated, the event is now officially scheduled and is part of the main events during the 70th anniversary of the D-day Invasion.. 3. Schedule (provisional) During the whole event, from the 4th to the 8th of June 2014, open hangar days and a DC-3/C-47 fly-in gathering will take place at the Cherbourg Maupertus Airport. It has been decided to start our event at the Lee on Solent – Portsmouth Deadalus Airfield in the UK, in order to cross the channel in the same tracks of the 8.000 C-47’s that made history in June 1944. Our Airshow and the planned parachute drops will be watched by hundreds of thousands of visitors expected in the Cotentin peninsula during the commemorative events. And our show will be a unforgettable one! This because it will be the first – and probably the very last – time the skies over Normandy will see so many DC-3/C-47’s again. Note: all times mentioned are approximate for now. June 2nd or 3rd (not later than 12.00 hrs. We are in process of sponsoring requests with Boeing France and US, Dassault Aviation, Total Air Fuels and other potential sponsors. But at this stage, we are unable to foresee the budgets we will collect and afford to put into your costs. Therefore by now, we ask you all to forward your minimal financial needs to take part at this event, so we will commit ourselves to make it as affordable and realistic as possible to all parties. The members/parachutists (± 200) of the Round Canopy Parachuting Team, which is the organizing party, are our main sponsors and volunteers to contribute, we also have a huge interest of potential passengers. We therefore need to know if your aircraft is allowed to carry passengers and how many. In the meantime we recommend you also to do a personal research request for sponsorship. It might be an idea to get your trip to the UK/France paid by a number of passengers who want to spend a few days in Normandy for the event. We are working very hard at making this event a huge success and we trust this event will be a great one. The historic significance of it and the impact it will have on the aviation world will be enormous. But we are a non-profit organization and depend on you and our sponsors to make it all happen!
