Season 2013 of the Australian Superbike season has been highly - TopicsExpress

Season 2013 of the Australian Superbike season has been highly satisfying for the NextGen Motorsport Team, with Glenn Allerton finishing second overall and team mate Linden Magee finishing 8th overall in Superbike. In the ProStock class, Ben Nicolson had a terrific season finishing second overall in his first year aboard the S1000RR. Glenn Allerton’s early season form showed that the two time ASBK champ was going to be a force to be reckon with after taking a clean sweep of Round One in Tasmania. He extended his lead at the Queensland round before a difficult double header weekend at Sydney Motorsport Park saw him surrender the lead. Known for his fighting spirit and its not over till its over attitude, Allerton showed why hes a champion and fought back in the closing rounds to secure second overall at the final round. For Linden Magee, the non-points round at Phillip Islands WSBK event in February created a lot of excitement when he was able to qualify second behind eventual ASBK Champion Wayne Maxwell. As the season progressed, Linden was able to climb into a winning position in the Privateer Championship before a huge crash at the final round cruelled his chances of victory. And while the recent final round of Australian Superbikes at Phillip Island did not result in a NextGen Motorsport series victory, it was just as sweet for Glenn Allerton who took a win and a second place for overall round victory. Glenn Allerton: I came here with a mathematical chance of winning the championship, but my mind was focused on just maximizing my points haul. Taking 45 points for the round and jumping up to second overall is satisfying but we just came up short on the championship. Id like to congratulate Wayne Maxwell on his championship win and thank all the guys at NextGen Motorsports for all their efforts in 2013. Its been a blast! For Linden Magee, the final round was perhaps his toughest of 2013, with a highside in race one at the notoriously fast and scary Hayshed not only rendering a DNF, but forcing him off his #1 bike for race two. That, plus a huge bruise on his backside made it a tough round. Linden Magee: I came into this round hoping to secure the Privateers Championship, but one small mistake really upset things. Im happy to have been super competitive all year and want to thank the whole team for their efforts. Team newcomer Ben Nicolson enjoyed a highly successful debut year aboard the BMW S1000RR in the ProStock class, taking a win at the final round and finishing second overall for season 2013. Ben Nicolson: “I came into this season with no real expectations; just wanted to ride the bike and see what I could do. I gelled well with the crew and the bike really quickly and only then did I think ‘I could be a show here’. Getting second overall in ProStock has been grouse- can’t wait to go around again” For team owners Nathan Webb and Wayne Hepburn, it’s been a long and fulfilling season. Nathan Webb: “It’s been a long year, not only have we fielded three riders in the ASBK Championship, but we’ve also competed in two rounds of World Superbike as well. I want to thank all the riders and the crew for all their efforts this year. We’re pretty proud to be the biggest team in the ASBK paddock and we’ll be back bigger than ever in 2014.” Wayne Hepburn: “Season 2013 didnt land us the Superbike title but it did land us with a lot of great partners that supported us in our endeavours. This allowed NextGen motorsports to cement its position in Australian Road Racing as one of the teams to beat. When you look at Glenns results he won as many races and had more pole positions than the eventual winner, he just had one bad round that he couldnt peg back the lost points. Our 3 riders gave it everything all year battling to the last lap. Glenn winning the final round with a balls out display of riding. Linden was on for the Superbike privateer title to the second last race and young gun Ben Nicolson grew so much over the season showing he will be a force in the future. Again our crew stepped it up to not only match what was thrown at us but better our performance with all Riders smashing personal bests at every track they went , to them I say a huge thanks. The team at BMW Australia -Alan Evans Dynotech - Steve Cramer Maxima Race oils - Link with Pirelli tyres Arrow exhausts RK chains - GB racing - Gillies tooling I want to say a huge thanks for believing in us and Im sure you all enjoyed the ride, even though we came up short on the track we smashed it out of the park in putting your brand and NextGen Motorsports at the top. We hope to be able to continue to work and grow with everyone in 2014.” Shane Kinderis, Crew Chief had nothing but praise for our sponsors and crew “All in all I am very happy with the way 2013 turned out, we took a leap of faith at the beginning of the year to take on Pirelli tyres and it turned out to be a great decision . The team worked hard all-year to achieve the best from our tyres , machines and riders and we certainly achieved that . The BMW Hp4 proved to be devastatingly fast and we look forward to going even faster next year” Next Gen Motorsports would like to thank all our sponsors for their overwhelming support in 2013.
