Second call in a week asking if we sell ladybugs. Our native plants often come with ladybugs on them because...wait for it...we do NOT use pesticides! ladybugs and lacewings and wasps etc. ARE the pest control. And, if you do not plant natives and allow some bugs to actually LIVE in your yard, if you order ladybugs and they have nothing to eat they leave your yard. A waste of money! Both times I tried to explain this and both times the callers hung up on me because I did not tell them what they wanted to hear, and they did not want to learn anything. And one was a teacher supposedly educating students about the environment! Please remember when you order bugs from who knows where, they usually are not native to your region, and you could very well be creating an invasion of non native insects that cannot be controlled. Plant it and they will come...the good, the bad and the ugly, and ALL are important. We do not get to pick and choose people, in a landscape where we try to mimic nature. What IS important is welcoming LIFE, in all its forms and functions, and letting everyone work it out. Remember, a plant isnt really loved until it gets eaten! LOL.
