Seeing areas of drizzle/fog developing near and behind cold front - TopicsExpress

Seeing areas of drizzle/fog developing near and behind cold front which is moving through southeast Oklahoma as I type. Temperatures across the northwest 2/3rds of the state have fallen to or below freezing. In areas of central and north central Oklahoma, this will result in freezing drizzle and freezing fog overnight. Some slick spots will be possible on elevated surfaces, so be cautious driving tonight/early tomorrow morning. Tomorrow will see temperatures in the upper 30s to low to mid 40s with mostly cloudy skies. Not expecting any measurable precipitation tomorrow. Sunday will see a relatively strong shortwave pass through the area. Increased moisture and lift will result in precipitation developing over western north Texas and spreading across southwest/central/ and eastern Oklahoma through the day. Models have been fairly consistent in keeping the track of this system from western north Texas into southern Oklahoma which will keep the heaviest precip in these areas. Temperatures at the surface will be near or just below freezing. Temperatures aloft will support mostly snow with perhaps a mix of rain/snow across southern Oklahoma. Snowfall accumulations will range from an inch or so in the metro with higher accumulations of two to four inches possible to the southeast. Not expecting significant travel disruptions with this particular system but will keep a close eye on it. Precip should end in central Oklahoma in the afternoon. Our next system will arrive Monday night into Tuesday. Winter weather will again be possible. Snow accumulations are much more uncertain in regards to the possibility of the area getting dry slotted. Will update more on this one tomorrow. If a slower and farther south track plays out, then this could be a significant system. Right now the biggest impacts look to be to our north and northeast but again, stay tuned. Yet another system is showing up in the models for Thursday and/or Friday. This too could have accumulating ice and snow in the area. Too early to get specific on this one. Bottom line, expect an active week of winter weather coming up with each of these systems having the potential to produce disruptive snow/ice accumulations. Will continue to monitor and provide a more detailed update tomorrow. Sorry for being so late with these, I have been so busy with work and getting home late. At least the good news is that much needed moisture is returning to the state!
