Seen someone speaking about this particular topic and decided to drop some knowledge: The oldest University in the world, on this planet, is found in AFRICA. Does that surprise you? The University of al-Karaouine جامعة القرويين is located in Morocco (founded 859 AD). This place is also known as a Madrasa. Africans studied the Universe (Astronomy). This is where the world gets the word University. Univers-ity. Get it? European and American scholars dispute whether there can be a historical institution outside of the European model. European institutions came some 300 years later. I hope that doesn’t surprise you. Wow! I am going to enjoy teaching my son (sun) all about the world and its history.
