Seen this done about 157 times, but still nervous. Subcutaneous - TopicsExpress

Seen this done about 157 times, but still nervous. Subcutaneous needles, easy peasy. Intramuscular, a little more challenging, but not too scary. IV is like a whole other level. Target area very small, must have a steady hand and slide a tiny needle into a slippery vein, catheter must be threaded in far enough to secure without pushing through the other side and blowing the vein out, and if it hits snag it must be removed and reinserted. whilst possibly angry/upset animal is getting restless and wanting to claw your face off. No pressure or anything... :/ Half of me is excited to learn a new skill, the other half is hoping the nurses forgot they were going to teach me this next time. haha
