Yes, even with the tweets from Kat Von D herself acknowledging that she named the shade after its meaning as a mashup of celebrity and retard. Here is what someone with an unnatural love of Sephora and Kat Von D is trying to spin: It is so very sad that so many people caused such a stir about Celebutard. Id really like to know the person who started this nonsense with getting this lipstick pulled from the shelves. I have absolutely nothing against those with special needs and am against the use of the disgraceful R word, but.... FYI, Celebutard has nothing, absolutely nothing to do with that disgraceful word nor the mentally disabled. Heres a little history for you. Kat Von D is a celebrity tattoo artist. Butard is a french word meaning buff, as in buff as a tone or color. Hence the combining of the words to creat Celebutard and the buff color of the lipstick. Nonetheless, good job for those who brought awareness and pity parties to the special needs community. I hope this attention whoreness stops soon. Again, Id be rolling on the floor laughing and peeing my pants at the asininity of this thinking if I wasnt so angry at its existence.
