Sermon Date: May 25, 2014 Scripture: Acts 1:9-12 Scriptural Focus: MATURITY Sermon Highlights: • God is Omnipresent, Omniscient, Omnipotent • Heaven is present during my mountain top experiences • Mountain top experiences are: countable, definable, memorable • Mountain top experiences are not always positive, but they are always important, imposing, impactful & leave an impression • Mountain tops are for visits, not for stays • Most of life is lived in the valley, on the plains & in the pits • The purpose of my mountain top is to mature me in the valley • God never intended for me to stay in the valley without Him • My mountain top gives meaning to my valley • My mountain top gives me power to deal with everyday life • Praise & worship is a weekly God-structured mountain top experience • God wants me to grow up! I must take the training wheels off! • Life is a journey. Life keeps moving & so should I! • I must be mature • Maturity = takes responsibility, meets obligations, assumes accountability, can care for itself & seeks to care for others, compassionate, caring, productive, fruitful, self-disciplined, always builds • Maturitys most important lesson - MY PAST DOES NOT DETERMINE/SHAPE MY FUTURE • My future determines & gives meaning to my past • My future is in my hands, heart, mind & feet • My past = Done • Immaturity keeps me invested in changing my past • Gods way will mature me • I can give my past new meaning by making a decision to move forward now Suggested Activities: 1) Weekly Affirmations: I MUST BE MATURE! GOD WANTS ME TO GROW UP! LIFE KEEPS MOVING AND SO SHOULD I! MY PAST DOES NOT DETERMINE MY FUTURE! 2) Maturity seeks to care for others. Volunteer at least one hour this week to one of Morning Stars Servolution partners. 3) A mature Christian takes responsibility for their physical as well as spiritual health. Make one dietary change this week that will move you forward to health and wellness.
