Sermon series on Christ Sustains and Supports was rolled out today. All of us eventually have to go through difficult times. When we do, we often wonder how we will survive them. We long for Gods presence in the midst of darkness. Christ is always there to sustain and support us. While Christ calls us to lean on our brothers and sisters, he becomes the source for all our needs. Key text today: John 8:31-38, 48-56, 58-59 with the theme I AM from Above. How much of our lives do we actually spend in the present time? Most of the time, many of us are either worried about the future or reliving the past. We stay busy because we are afraid of being still and silent. Even when we are still, we feel we need something to distract us from the present - the computer, tv, phone, or a book. However, in todays story, Jesus calls himself the great I AM - not the great I WAS or the great I WILL BE. God only meets in the still silence of the present, and if we want to CONNECT with him, we will have to be FREE enough to live there as well. Amen! Magadi Road Church
