Several lanes of 1-91 in Springfield closed, after chunks of highway fall SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) -Several lanes of I-91, northbound in Springfield are closed right now after portions of the elevated highway fell to the ground below. Trooper Matthew Stone of the State Police told 22News there is a sizeable pothole on I-91 prior to exit 5 in Springfield. He says sections of the concrete fell down to the roads below the elevated portion late Thursday evening. There were no accidents or injuries as result of the falling concrete. But two lanes on I-91 are shut-down and some streets are closed while crews work to clean up. Trooper Stone says the lanes on 1-91 should be reopened around 7 a.m. Friday.
