"Several local people intend to file objections to a local sturgeon farm’s request for permission to withdraw 7.2 million gallons of water per day from the Floridan aquifer, 5.7 gallons more than its currently permitted withdrawal. The request was published in a public notice in the June 26 edition of the Floridan. Some say they fear a withdrawal of that size could reduce water flows for certain types of irrigation farming in the area, as well as for private water wells and ponds on other properties. At least one person is asking that that the Environmental Protection Agency conduct an environmental impact study before any action is taken on the permit request from Sturgeon AquaFarms LLC."
