Shades To tell you the truth, I’ve never seen a "Black" person, - TopicsExpress

Shades To tell you the truth, I’ve never seen a "Black" person, as a matter of fact; I’ve never seen a yellow, red, or white person either. Do we refer to others by what we think is the generic closest color to the mass of their particular ethnic background? Do you want to hear something kind of disturbing, someone told me that the U.S. is the only country that has that as an option on formal documents. Years ago I started marking "Other", the least it did for me was create more interviews and calls but it brought the "Slap" in the face closer to home. Is there a reason why there’s not a box that simply says plain ole "American" without another word to describe what kind of American on documents that don’t require a description? If everyone was really being treated equal then unemployment wouldn’t be such a big problem because jobs will be being created for the mass and not one particular ethnic group and the urgency would be greater. The prison population would definitely change if the culprits didn’t have to show face. I’m not saying this as a privilege for criminals but there has got to be a reason that "Darker" skinned Americans get on an average 25x the amount of time than the ones that are several shades lighter for the same crimes and amounts of defenses. And a lot of them (The lighter ones) are allowed to walk away from situations where others are arrested unless in some cases they are light, light, real light, males with long hair, or they live on the poorer side of town. Black, white, long hair, short hair, trailer park, house, apartment, homeless, or whatever; we’re all equal but not the same … off paper!! Or until someone does something wrong then your color, where you live, or your choice of appearance, becomes an obvious factor in an unfair decision on how long you may need to be locked away. Oh. I’m not all of the way innocent on this one because I do call black and white people … "Black and white" so we’ve got to create something different, how about "Indigo" no dark or light, just plain ole indigo until/unless absolutely necessary. ~Paridon
