Shine Relief Trust is dedicated to relieve the suffering of orphans in one of the poorest regions of one of the poorest nations in the world, Malawi. Shine has a team working in the Zomba district of Southern Malawi and a Trust providing support from the UK. We work alongside local people, who care for vulnerable children with very limited resources. 1 in 6 children are dealing with the trauma of losing one or more of their parents. The support needed to meet their needs is far beyond what extended families, neighbours or the state can provide. Children are sadly left to face life alone, to bring up their siblings, farm and run the family home. Education comes last and many orphaned children never finish Primary school severely impacting their ability to achieve their full potential and contribute to the development of their communities.
