Shipmate News 01 July 2014 Today marks the start of the financial year and we're already nearly half way through winter and here in Victoria last week, nature reminded us that things can get wild and woolly out on the water. A combination of a high tides and strong winds combined to wreak havoc across Port Phillip Bay last week with many parts, especially on the eastern side of the bay, inundated and left looking like a mini tsunami had gone through. Parks Victoria has issued numerous Notices to Mariners about missing aids to navigation across Port Phillip and warning boaters of the large anount of floating debris in the water and advising that mariners proceed with caution. Well the weather is only part of the news because the boat show season is off and running and lots of information coming through about ther Sydney International Boat Show, on at the end of this month. I'm looking forward to being there, especially this year with the show being split with the in-water component of the show at Darling Harbour and the pavilion at Glebe Island. By all reports the show is fully booked and with the on-land exhibits accomodated in a specially constructed facility at Glebe Island, visitors will be able to transfer between the two locations by free shuttles that will operate on land and water. As usual though, another bumper edition of Shipmate News so something for everyone including new boat models, new product releases and information about what's happening in the marine world around the country and overseas, so sit back and enjoy the read. Cheers, see you out on the water John Zammit Beneteau Oceanis 38 offers innovative options at Sydney Boat Show 30 June 2014 NSW Beneteau Dealer Vicsail will provide visitors to the Sydney Boat the opportunity to see first hand why the Beneteau Oceanis 38 has broken new ground for those looking for a versatile yacht that offers a range of sailing options.
