Showtime’s ‘Penny Dreadful’ Casts Josh Hartnett and Eva Green as Leads Josh Hartnett (Pearl Harbor) and Eva Green (Casino Royale) will be taking the lead in Showtime’s monster mash Penny Dreadful, The Hollywood Reporter reports. From John Logan (Hugo), the horror series will feature legendary figures from literature brought to life in a psychological horror-fest. Hartnett will star as the daring Ethan Chandler, who hides his demons behind his bravado, while Green will star as Vanessa, the series’ only heroine. Production of Penny Dreadful begins this fall in London for a Spring 2014 debut on Showtime. In addition to Pearl Harbor, former early ’00s teen heartthrob Hartnett has appeared in 40 Days and 40 Nights, Lucky Number Slevin and Black Hawk Down. Meanwhile, Green has starred in Starz’s miniseries Camelot, Dark Shadows and The Dreamers. What do you think of the first casting choices for Penny Dreadful?
