Similarly, the United States is not without enemies. Yet we have stripped our military to bare bones. Our armed services are woefully inadequate for effectively defending our vital interests abroad. Nehemiah 4:8 encourages us to revitalize and maintain the military. We should consider Israels continuing struggle for survival and heed the warnings of Nehemiah. We should realize that our enemies will always oppose the rebuilding of our martial capabilities even as the four tribes vigorously opposed the rebuilding of Jerusalems wall. All of them conspired together to come indicates the hostile approach of the four armies to Jerusalem. Their objective; Make war against the city from all sides. These diverse groups joined forces in a plot to destroy Jerusalem. to cause disturbance, (toah), actually denotes creating confusion to facilitate the purpose of the alliance. Clearly, these armies were bent on exploiting tyranny, and enslavement.
