Simon Scott SCOTTY GATHERING - NORTH EAST - Durham City. Okay, as it develops, there are many people getting in touch who want to come to pay respects, have a beer and cheer our Scotty on. This is great, but trying to organise aorund everyones movements is proving very aarrgghh....So, this is how it stands.... I will drive north probably on Tuesday to Peterlee. Terry Kirkbride is coming with me. (were holding eachother up emotionally). . . The plan is to sound out Klute (the dark hole of calcutta under the bridge) and a place Scotty and all of us spent many a crazy night, so if i can talk to the manager (once there) and bend his arm, the gathering will be there, if not it shall be The Angel pub up by the bus station which was another place Scotty frequented (though he may not remember as he wasnt always sober or straight...though never gay!) As we are going back many years ie to circa 1982 83 and onwards I ask that anyone who knows about this proposed gathering please spread the word. Tons of people I am sure will do Scotty proud - he touched so many lives. This is where all the villages and towns meet without a punch-up! Peterlee, Cassop, Bishop Auckland, Crook, Sunderland, Durham and wherever your heart & soul came from. PLEASE stay posted as the actual gathering will be announced (with short notice as i must do a wrecky when in Durham) here on FB for either Monday 1st Sept or thereabouts. Recognising its a school night, I still hope that wont put anyone off. There could be a Sunday afternoon gather too for those who cant make a school night, and on this very very special occasion we can always add another afternoon or evening. Its all about Scotty so we will do as much as we can, as he wouldve liked it and git in Scottys style . . . EVERYONE IS WELCOME & SORRY IF I HAVE MISSED ANYBODY OFF THE LIST............. (my heads not on straight at the moment and my heart is in a state of disarray...!) This is a tribute to an extremely unique and special person / artist / soul, and not only are we well proud of him for being part of putting the north east on the map, we must all rejoice in the wild and crazy days of our youth. Alas, he left early but he told me at 14 at his kitchen table he wouldnt live very long . . . he was such a one-off as i am sure you all know. SO, KEEP POSTED.
