Job Title: Staff Accountant Area of Interest: Finance City: Jersey City State / Province: New Jersey Requirements: Qualifications: Required/Preferred 3-5 years relevant experience – required General Ledger knowledge, knowledge of system oriented monthly closing processes and account reconciliation. Prior experience in fixed asset accounting and automated fixed asset systems Advanced knowledge of MS Excel - required Workable knowledge of other office suite products. Demonstrate ability to form and maintain strong working relationships Qualifications/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, 3 plus years accounting and/or finance experience. Job Description: Job Summary: The staff accountant role will support the North American Metals Fixed Asset Accounting Manager. The candidate must be a team player and be able to follow directions as instructed. Key Responsibilities: • Assist in the fixed asset accounting process and maintenance of company- wide automated fixed asset accounting system and capital project tracking and reporting. •Perform accounting activities as per established accounting standards and procedures. •Collaborate with company locations to monitor asset additions, disposals and other movements •Maintain fixed asset system for accounting, processing and reporting of fixed assets which includes inputting data, scheduling required jobs within the system and verifying data. Prepare and record fixed asset acquisitions and dispositions in the fixed asset accounting system. •Calculate and review depreciation for all fixed assets. •Generate required monthly depreciation journal entries for all regions within company within strict deadlines. •Reconcile the balance in the fixed asset subsidiary ledger to the summary-level account in the general ledger. Check for completeness and accuracy of fixed assets sub ledger and month-end closing activities such as account reconciliations, journal entries and adjustments. •Conduct analyses and provide support related to fixed assets as requested by region locations. •Assist with periodic audits related to fixed assets. •Prepare audit schedules relating to fixed assets, and assist the auditors in their inquiries. •Track company capital expenditure approvals in comparison to the capital budget and management authorizations. •Monitor and report monthly capital expenditure status by project. •Work with regions to track the compilation of project costs into fixed asset accounts and close those accounts once the project is completed Please send resumes to lucy@military-civilian with the job title and location in the subject line.
