Since 2005, villages, towns, and cities have gotten annual funding - TopicsExpress

Since 2005, villages, towns, and cities have gotten annual funding from the state called Aid and Incentives to Municipalities (AIM). This relief is critical for our local taxpayers who foot the bill for ever-rising costs and unfunded mandates. Unfortunately, if you were not a village by 2005, however, you have not automatically qualified for the funding like every other municipality. There are a very small number of these cases, but in our Assembly District, we have two such instances: the Village of Woodbury and the Village of South Blooming Grove. Since their creation up until the 2012-2013 state budget, Woodbury and South Blooming Grove did not receive AIM funding. Im pleaseed to share that I successfully fought to include both villages, for the first time ever, in the 2013-2014 budget and did so again earlier this year. Now, however, I have introduced legislation to make this fix permanent, replacing the need to fight for their inclusion every year. Im hopeful that we will get a vote on this important legislation in the next month; heres some coverage of the bill: longislandadvance.net/articles/2014/05/22/Village-looking-for-AIM-funding
