Since I was at Wheatley Courts in 2012 to join in announcing San Antonio’s success in becoming a federally-funded “Choice” zone, progress has been steady. Today, work is beginning to tear down the old housing in order to build up modern housing that will provide a stronger foundation for the neighborhood. I joined Mayor Ivy Taylor, Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff, Councilman Keith Toney, SAHA President and CEO Lourdes Castro Ramirez, Bexar County Tax Assessor-Collector Albert Uresti, County Commissioner Tommy Adkisson, Eastside Promise Director Tony Leverett, and Director of Choice Neighborhood Programs Beverley Watts Davis, as we celebrated yet another component of the large-scale revitalization efforts that are currently underway in the EastPoint Choice Transformation Plan.
