Since taking office, I have emphasized to my deputies to be pro-active in narcotics enforcement. In 2012, we adjusted our schedule to arrange for one deputy to focus solely on narcotics one day a week without answering calls for service. That deputy utilized this time to follow up on drug tips and conduct undercover drug operations. With the continued help of a CEASe grant, we were able to dedicate even more time focusing on narcotics violations that affect Scott County citizens. This extra time spent on narcotics investigations allowed us to take 34 known drug dealers off the streets. In addition, we have taken 300 grams of Methamphetamine, 12.5 grams of Cocaine, 30.5 grams of Heroin and over 300 Schedule II-IV Controlled Substances off the streets by conducting undercover drug operations.
