Since the 29th of January, a security firm has been responsible for guarding Milkup Bank Farm Willington, after an eviction which is currently being challenged in court. This firm have prevented people from walking along the ancient right of way around the farm, claiming they had police consent to do this, the police were contacted and confirmed that this was not the case and the council rights of way officers became involved and ensured the right of was made accessible. Then changes were made by the firm to the right of way, after assurances that this was with the consent of the council, the council rights of way officer was contacted, and again, knew nothing of the changes. He visited the farm and the issue was resolved after a greater width was made in the pathway. However, ANY changes, however small to a public right of way must go through a process of public consultation, which was not undertaken in this case, we are waiting a reply to why this was not so. In the meantime, walkers are feeling intimidated to use the footpath due to the behavior of the security personal. An elderly lady walking the path today, a path she has walked all her life, called to police to intervene, not for the first time, but was simply told by them to stop walking on the path, as it would probably keep occurring. We therefor ask the council to restore the right of way to its original state, and any changes to be made only by due process of the law, and to ensure that walkers are not intimidated by the security staff currently present at the farm, and police hold to their duty to protect the public. https://youtube/watch?v=cBRz2lkOCoU
