Since the time electricity was used to light our homes and streets, people seldom use candles. People use candles only when there are brownouts or during the wake of a dead loved one. Sometimes candles are just gathering dust on the shelf for months or even years, but when darkness strikes people would strike a match and light a candle. There are times we are called to be candles for others. They may not need us all the time but we can lighten their lives whenever they want to find their way in the dark. In fact, they will hold us in their hands and close to their hearts for as long as it takes.
