Since the transparent, accessible Mayor of NYC has managed to ignore me for 14 months, Im guessing that this is a kind of tradition with you since you dont know me well enough to dislike me - at least not yet. And so Im going to take a leap of faith here and hope that while I tread a fine line with you, I havent crossed it yet - otherwise you wouldve blocked me from your page. But hey - that might still be forthcoming. With the consequences in mind, Id want to take this moment to talk to you about the concept of prejudice, even as I assume you know what it is quite well. What you apparently have yet considered is that disapproving of prejudice for others, for yourself and acknowledging its existence isnt the entire battle. When you were elected Mayor of NYC, the people that elected you were well aware that you had a bi-racial family. Being as progressive as New Yorkers are, they couldnt have cared less about this - nor do I. I find it particularly disconcerting when people say theyre not racist because its usually those people that are. With this in mind, you might have noticed that a whole lot of members of the NYPD have been among the first to announce that theyre not racist, but based on its history and the focus of its abuses, its no mystery that a lot of members of the NYPD are racist. And so I want to tell you that from my perception, the constituency of the NYPD is not only racist, its one of the reasons they dont like you, and you should think about this. Furthermore, the PBA encourages its members to be racist and its not just about the fact that youve acknowledged abuses in its ranks. You are its enemy because you equate too much with what people of color go through in NYC. So while people accept your choices and your family, its a sure signal that people are exhibiting the best part of their nature. But when in turn you exhibit prejudice and bias against a dog breed for some mindless reason, betray homeless animals knowing theyre defenseless and condemn them with apathy, this says a lot about you personally. When PETA bestowed its person of the Year Award upon you of all people, while PETA makes its disdain for Pit Bulls so obvious and thinks they should all be eradicated, its like the KKK burning a cross on a black persons front lawn. When you rent your house and specify no pets thats a big red flag too. When you sit back and let people be ejected from their homes using their dogs as an excuse to do it, what are you as a person, Mayor de Blasio?? Who are you as a human being?? As long as you keep dishing out prejudice, youre likely to get it back, so if I were you, Id exhibit real disdain for issues of all prejudice or wear a hat with the label hypocrite. All of this may seem like a kind of abstract analogy, but you know and I know that it has a basis in truth. Now you have 2 things to deal with: NYPD misconduct and prejudice (which includes you and your family) and your own prejudice of NYC homeless animals and especially its Pit Bulls. PLEASE KEEP YOUR SHELTER REFORM PROMISE AND MAKE NYC THE HUMANE CITY YOU PLANTED IN PEOPLES MINDS.
