Since we have had some questions lately, we thought we would post why DLRR charges a membership fee to become an adopter or volunteer/foster. DLRR is a 100% volunteer 501c3 charitable rescue. The $10 fee is used primarily to help DLRR cover the cost of in-taking our dogs. On average, DLRR takes in over 250 Labs per year. All of our intakes, regardless of if we got them from a pound/shelter or an owner turn-in, are provided a vet exam, alter, immunizations and microchip. If our dogs require additional medical attention or surgery, DLRR will utilize our medical fund. Medical expenses are our primary expense as a rescue! When you become a member, you receive our fun newsletter that highlights DLRR’s many events and fundraisers and volunteer members receive voting rights too with our board on matters requiring a vote. This small fee means a lot when every penny DLRR receives goes to our dogs and their care!
