Single people are often VERY eager and willing to give marriage advice for some reason. I am equal parts tickled and bemused at the sheer number of people who cannot hold down a successful “boyfriend/girlfriend” relationship yet become experts at the art of staying together forever, and the impressive number of “Relationship counselors/experts” who for a small fee will leap at the opportunity to opine on your lifelong commitment without being able to find commitment with GPS Navigation. I think one of the reasons is that successful marriages take WORK! I know that in our microwave society the word WORK is profane but that doesnt make the concept untrue. See, my marriage and my family are the best things that have happened to me since my Salvation….PERIOD! My wife is the pinnacle of virtue and is nothing short of the physical manifestation of Gods unmerited favor on my life. But she will tell you that it takes WORK to make marriage successful! Marriages FAIL without a commitment from the two parties first to God and then to each other! Jesus HAS to be working on the inside in order for it to look good on the outside. So be careful, guard your marriage, and seek WISE counsel because believe it or not, everyone that’s around you isnt FOR you! Some people are just there waiting in the wings to throw the appropriate amount of shade and without a marriage centered around the SON you could fall victim. There is an old African saying that says “Be careful when a naked person offers you a shirt.” It’s time to start asking some of these “marriage experts” and “advice givers” to go put some clothes on.
