Sixth straight win, and the fifth in the Premier League with a good 1-0 win over a decent QPR side at St. James’ Park on Saturday afternoon. It was also Newcastle’s fourth clean sheet in a row, so Mike Williamson and Massadio Haidara did a good job coming in at the back for the injured Fabricio Coloccini and Steven Taylor. From our Man of the Match poll these Newcastle’s best four players Moussa Sissoko – 62% – put in another very strong performance for Newcastle and was captain for the day. Moussa also got the vital goal after 78 minutes that kept the winning streak going, and he’s been a top player for Newcastle throughout this season, even during the initial poor run. The Frenchman was proud to be captain and seems very happy at Newcastle – Moussa is still improving as a player on Tyneside and it must be a frightening sight to see this 6’2″ powerhouse coming at you if you are an opposing player.. Jack Colback – 12% – put in another strong performance for his home town team and has settled into the Newcastle side very quickly and very easily and is probably Newcastle’s most consistent performer so far this season. If he keeps putting performances like this in for the Magpies hopefully he will be given another chance by England manager Roy Hodgson. He is very efficient for Newcastle in the engine room. Sammy Ameobi -6% – in the last year of his contract at Newcastle and put in another eye-catching performance for Newcastle down the left wing, and the 22 year-old got the assist for the winning goal. Sammy has been consistent in his 10 appearances for Newcastle so far this season, and that’s an improvement and it’s also what he needs to keep doing if he wants to earn a new contract at his home town club. Ayoze Perez – 5% – the Spanish 21 year-old continues to impress as Newcastle’s new striker, and not only is he full of energy and skill, but he was again sharp on Saturday and towards the end of the game he had a couple of half chances when he forced impressive QPR goalkeeper Robert Green to make two good saves. Still has a lot to learn of course, and he needs to improve his hold-up play as one area of improvement – but this guy has turned out to be great buy from Tenerife. Ayoze is taking his chance at Newcastle and fittingly got a great hand from the Geordie crowd when he was replaced late in the game by local lad Adam Armstron
