So, I forgot to post this...lol Well, my shift started at 8:00 am for Black Friday, but the only ride that would take me to work had to leave at 4:45 am. Well, I figured that I would just walk around the mall, or use the mall wifi, or something. So, I get there and there arent as many shoppers as I anticipated. A lot of stores were re-stocking for the next flash mob of crazy shoppers, and the mall wifi wouldnt let me get on. Well, I waited for my shift to start, and the day began to take off. I really liked working with the large crowd of people, until weird things started to happen. First a lady, apparently desperate to find a shirt or something, elbowed me in the gut while I was restocking one of the shelves. I think she thought that I was another desperate, crazy shopper, but I honestly dont know. I thought things started to calm down, at least I wasnt getting mean comments, or disgusting looks. Well, a lady walked up to me and asked if I could remove one of the shirts off one of our mannequins? I said that I had to call my manager to check, so I took my spiffy, black talkie headset and called her over to my section. She went to remove the shirt, but then had a puzzled look on her face. She then looked at me, and asked why one of the other mannequins was missing one of its arms, had no hoodie, and its shirt was half pulled off over its head. I looked at her with the same puzzled look she had given to me, and told her that I hadnt a single idea of how it got that way. After all, it wasnt even in my section that I was running, and none of the other employees saw what happened either. We found the arm like 4-5 feet from the mannequin. We figured that someone was just desperate for that size, so they didnt waste any time gettin that hoodie to the cash wrap. Later on into my shift my manager says, through my headset, that she had just sent the only two guys I had in my section on their lunch break. I was saying in my head, Really? You just sent my only helpers on their break, and we are about due for another mob of people? Sure enough, with in 7 min. our store was once again flooded with people, and I had the entire mens division to myself. I think my boss wanted to see how I would handle high-pressure situations? In all, it turned out to be a great day, because nobody got severely hurt, and half our customers were somewhat pleasant. Praise God that it wasnt worse than it was.
