So I found out today is the birthday of Victor Pungong! Its funny how in life our heroes can be just among us. My first memory of Victor is from his memorable movie,Trials of Passion. In those pre-Nollywood and youtube days, he could already see far enough to create a sensation. As a kid, Victor was the bushfaller grand who always hung out with the parents when he came home. So imagine what a revelation it was to discover the man! As I read his eulogy on that sad day in London, I finally understood the purpose of Victor Pungong in my life. His excellence and fearlessness in pursuing his passions did it for me. Here was a man with outstanding academic prowess and a colourful artistic flair. In a system that would encourage us to stick to one (esp academia), Victor defied norms and excelled! For a confused 20-something, that was permission! RIP my brother. You went too soon but your legacy towers on. Oh and did I mention he was a Mbu star! lol *couldnt resist*
