So, I got the number 6....so I get to share 6 things about myself some of you may not know.....(some of you - know all of this!) 1. I grew up on a farm that either my dad or grandpa named Hill Top Ranch NE of Howard, South Dakota. The house I grew up in was built in 1912, and the farm is a century farm. My dad was born in the house and lived there his entire life, until the last few months of his life after he had his debilitating stroke. 2. Through the years our family raised cattle, sheep, pigs, goats, rabbits, cats! (lots of cats!), and dogs...and had horses too. I often feel the need to visit the countryside and/or a farm to get my country fix. Never seemed to have totally outgrown being a farm kid. 3. My first dog was named Skippy. He was not a border collie or a sheltie....and just ask our neighbors - - - he was NOT good with cattle! 4. I had a bottle lamb named Charlie. He disappeared one day when he got older, and I never did figure out where he went.???????????? ;) 5. Growing up, I was scared to death of rattlesnakes....so scare of them that I would refuse to get out of the car once we crossed the river. At the age of 21, I signed my first teaching contract that took me to the heart of rattlesnake country. Years later, I went to yet another school in the heart of rattlesnake country. ....God really has a strange sense of humor! 6. I spent 7 years serving fulltime as a Childrens Ministry Director at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Aberdeen. At one time I even pondered going to seminary....but feel that I can better serve in the classroom.
