So, I have great friends. You all knew that, because your my friends and know youre great. Modest, and great. I asked for referrals and got several from very competent friends in the medical field - referrals that were later supported by even more friends in the field. I jumped on the surgical outfit that could see me the soonest. I saw the surgeon today, Andy Kaplan, who said he was very surprised by how good the reduction looked and how well it worked. He figured they must really have pulled and pushed on it prior to splinting, which they did. He said surgery was no longer necessary because of how well the reduction had taken. He would not do it on his own leg under the same circumstances. He thought it unlikely that hed make it any better aligned through. He also said that he likes to do surgery the way I like to ride, and hed already scheduled me for Friday just in case. They casted over the splint. I see the PA, Joelle, again Tuesday next week. If all looks good in another two weeks the temp comes off and a solid goes on for six or more depending on healing. If it doesnt look good next week theyll schedule for surgery then, but he thought it unlikely. No surgery means a longer heal time, but without the added risk of infection, nerve damage, soft tissue scaring, footwear interference. All good news except the duration of the healing. Maybe ready for sutton or Fitchburg in July? For now its a temp cast and looking out the window through Dilauded eyes...
