So I know there are some of you guys who still dont fully understand how Pendulums work. To lighten the inevitable load of questions the Dark Side Judges will have to answer this Saturday regarding Pendulums, I thought Id post some random tidbits and rulings about Pendulum Monsters: Pendulum Monsters are sent the Graveyard like all monsters, except when they would be sent from the Field to the Graveyard (In which case they go to the Extra Deck instead). The following are examples actions that would send them to the Graveyard: Foolish Burial, the effect of Glow-Up Bulb, detaching them as Xyz Materials, or negating their summons. The following actions would NOT send them to the Graveyard, and instead send them to the Extra Deck: destroying them via a cards effect (i.e. Raigeki Break), Synchro Summoning using them as Synchro Materials, Tributing them for a cost OR for a Tribute Summon, or Fusion Summoning using them as Fusion Materials. Any card that can negate the summon of a monster that does not start a chain can be used to stop a Pendulum Summon, with notable exceptions being Thunder King Rai-Oh and the Horns of Heaven (All three of which CAN negate a Pendulum Summon, but only if that Pendulum Summon would summon ONLY ONE monster). The cards that can stop the Pendulum Summon of multiple monsters include Solemn Warning, Royal Oppression, or Evolzar Laggia. Youll notice their card text reads When your opponent would special summon a monster(s). Pendulum Monsters are banished in the same way monsters are banished. They will be removed from play if Macro Cosmos is on the Field. This rule applies even if they would return to the Extra Deck, and would not be sent to the Graveyard in the first place. The exception to this rule is that they will not be banished if they are destroyed in a Pendulum Zone while Dimensional Fissure is on the Field. Pendulum Summons are Inherent Summons, meaning that they do NOT start a chain, and cards like Devine Wrath cannot stop their summons. Pendulum Monsters are ALWAYS treated as monsters, except when they are in a Pendulum Zone. If the effect of Eradicator Epidemic Virus is activated, and Spell Cards is called, Pendulum Monsters in Monster Zones and in the Hand are safe. On the other hand, if the effect of Crush Card Virus is activated, Pendulum Monster in the Hand and in Monster Zones WILL be destroyed, while Pendulum Monsters in the Pendulum Zones will not. Unlike most monsters summoned from the Extra Deck, if a Pendulum Summon from the Extra Deck is negated, and the monsters that would have been summoned are destroyed and send to the graveyard, those monsters can be summoned with cards like Call of the Haunted or Soul Charge. If a monster with 1000 or less ATK is summoned from the Extra Deck via Pendulum Summon (i.e. Qliphort Scout), and Chain Disappearance is activated, all copies will be banished, including any other copies in the Extra Deck that were not summoned. Pendulum Monsters can NOT be set in a Pendulum Zone. All cards in a Pendulum Zone must be face-up. If a card like Anti-Spell Fragrance is on the Field, Pendulum Monsters cannot be placed in Pendulum Zones. Post any more questions you have below, Ill do my best to answer them, and Ill post answers in this OP.
