So Im officially announcing the collaboration Im doing with Marcus Chambers.. an amazingly talented metal worked in the Japanese tradition. Marcus and I both share a common interest in textures, aesthetics and the resources of the Great Lakes region. The blade I just posted will be the focus of our collaboration and will be a fully mounted tanto using all wood and metal from the Lake Superior region... including copper, wood, and salvaged wrought iron. I will be doing the wood mounts and habaki and Marcus will engrave the blade as well as create the other fittings. We are still discussing but there will most likely be an Northwoods boreal forest theme running from the saya up into the blade.
