So Ive been reading up on Chomskys Universal Grammar. I understand that its an elegant theory about the constraints and requirements on the human capacity to learn a language. But my question is, what does all this have to do with the price of tea in China? As far as Im concerned, a theory is only useful if people can dream up experiments to falsify it. I guess I havent really dug deep to find if this has been done for Universal Grammar.
