So Ive got a pretty good one. Im in the GA national guard, and anyone who went through 11B, or has just been down here to train for whatever reasons understands that Georgias heat is pretty intense during the middle of the summer. Well, my unit had squad live fire training in the swampy mess of Ft Stewart, we set off with our convoy and not but a few miles down the interstate, one of our Humvees breaks down, so we pull up to a gas station off the interstate to sit and wait for this Humvee to be towed back to the armory and switched and all that good stuff. We waited at this gas station for a good maybe 3 hours outside in the heat, and after time rolled by the gas station clerk comes outside to talk, and tells us to come inside and grab some cases of water, free of charge, not just bottles, but cases, one for each Humvee in the convoy. Now Ive never been one to use my service as a token to get special privileges or boast that Im just better than everyone else, but what this guy did earned a lot of respect in my book, you have people now a days that dont appreciate what our troops have done and the sacrifices they have made, but then you have people like this gas station clerk that notice and are proud to help those that serve. I guess what Im getting at is that you shouldnt go around boasting yourself and acting like you are just the coolest and most bad ass thing around because youre a service member, people notice, and for those out there who do notice, and do show respect with small things such as water, I thank you. From a well hydrated SPC Ft. Stewart
